Mary Gauthier & Jaimee Harris Share Their Livestreaming Tech Guide

Grammy-nominated folk songwriter Mary Gauthier and Americana songwriter Jaimee Harris have been perfecting livestream performance all year on their weekly series Sundays with Mary. On the webinar we co-hosted with Folk Alliance International this fall, Jaimee and Mary had incredible insights and practical advice for artists trying to set up their optimal home set-up for performance.

They began using an Ear Trumpet Labs Myrtle early in the summer. “The Myrtle has made the sound of our livestreams exponentially better. Clear, clean highs, deeply resonant lows. With the headphones on, it sounds like we are playing on a theatre stage with a great house engineer,” Gauthier notes. “The mic looks as beautiful as it sounds, and it is very easy to set up. We will definitely be bringing this mic on the road with us when touring returns.”

But a microphone is only one part of a great livestream set-up. Jaimee and Mary have put together an incredibly useful guide to everything they’ve learned about livestream performance tools including their preferred interface, camera, lighting, audio gear, software, and tips. This is a living document that they keep updated as technology changes and evolves. We are so grateful to them for letting us share it!

Check out their Sunday livestreams on Facebook and YouTube.
